If you have even the briefest knowledge of motor sports, you’d know that Phillip Island is home to the Grand Prix as well as a whole host of motorbike and car racing events. But did you know that Phillip Island is also home to a nature park, amazing beaches and wildlife you can’t see anywhere else in Australia? Phillip Island is next up on our holiday bucket list, and we think it should be on yours too!
  1. Spend Some Time With The Locals
The local wildlife, that is! You can see Australian native animals in their natural habitats as well as getting up close and personal to some of our most iconic creatures. The Penguin Parade is a daily event on Philip Island that showcases the world’s smallest penguins making their way back to shore after a busy day of fishing every evening at sunset. You can spot them returning to their burrows from viewing platforms on Summerland Beach as well as from elevated boardwalks across the beach. There’s also a world-first facility that allows just 70 people to see the penguins at eye level as they settle in for the night!
 
You can also cuddle koalas, watch out for whales, bird watch and explore working farms that have been in operation since 1850.

  1. Take In The View
The Nobbies is a coastal headland known for its stunning views of the ocean and surrounding sea bird gardens. Enjoy a stroll to the blowhole, which is active during southern swells, spot baby Silver Gulls in their nests, and spot fur seals from Australia’s largest colony just off shore!

  1. Ride The Waves
Phillip Island is home to some of the best swells in Australia and host a number of surfing competitions and exhibitions. You’re pretty much guaranteed a break, no matter the time of year or the wind conditions. You can book a lesson or just bring your board, but be sure to check at one of the local surf shops as conditions can get a little hazardous for the uninitiated.

  1. Go Wild On A Thundercat Tour!
We couldn’t escape all the fast paced madness on our tour of Phillip Island! Rather than racing around the track, why not hit the water on an adrenalin fuelled surf racing Thundercat boat tour! This action packed 30 minute boat ride takes you out to the incredible granite cliffs and caves of Cape Woolamai (if you’re a qualified diver you throw in a dip while you’re there!).
